Handball Austria launches streaming platform ÖHB LIVE

The Austrian Handball Federation is expanding its digital services and launching its own streaming and video-on-demand platform. The declared goal: to make handball accessible to everyone at all levels.

Video live streaming has not only experienced a great upswing since the corona pandemic. The Austrian Handball Federation has now reacted to this trend and is now offering its state associations and all Austrian handball clubs a central and free service - ÖHB LIVE.

The aim was to create a central platform for streaming and video content. The partnership with Solidsport enables our clubs to produce live streams without great effort and without financial risk at the same time as every club can generate digital revenue themselves.

– Bernd Rabenseifner, Secretary General of the Austrian Handball Association.

On ÖHB LIVE, every club and team can now create their own streaming channel, broadcast games and events or make them accessible as replays, use the unlimited archive and generate direct revenue for the club with their moving image content thanks to digital tickets.

In order to further reduce the administrative effort for clubs and teams, an interface to the "Nu Liga" administration system will be activated shortly. Schedules are then automatically imported and live scores added to the stream. Another interface to the "Sideline" analysis tool creates additional synergies for users of ÖHB LIVE.

– Use synergies, keep the system simple, ensure data integrity. Therefore, streaming with "ÖHB LIVE" is not a big effort, but the logical next step for clubs to make their own games "visible", Rabenseifner continues.

In addition to the free, individual platform with various monetization options, ÖHB LIVE also provides the teams using a simple but powerful tool for creating live streams. The so-called broadcast app. With mobile end devices and mobile internet connections, professional transmissions can be realized at the touch of a button. In addition to this method, signals from other sources can also be transmitted.

The comprehensive offer is made possible by a long-term partnership with the streaming provider Solidsport.

Live streaming is no longer a privilege for which the clubs need know-how and expensive equipment. Thanks to smart solutions, broadcasting in sports has developed from a cost factor to a source of income in recent years. And so a reliable and free live streaming offer is now part of the service offer of a future-oriented association. We look forward to implementing this offer together with the ÖHB and thus becoming a partner of Austrian handball.

– Henry Blunck, Country Manager DACH, Solidsport GmbH.

ÖHB LIVE will experience the first test as part of the ÖHB Cups women and men, which start at the beginning of November. For the first time in the history of the cup, all games will be broadcast live. On ÖHB LIVE.

In time for the first round of the ÖHB Cup, ÖHB LIVE will also move to the Handball Austria homepage and will thus become an integral part of the digital offer.

In addition to the ÖHB Cup, Handball Austria will also broadcast games from its junior national teams. However, ÖHB LIVE will primarily become the central streaming platform for amateur and junior handball in Austria. The declared goal of Handball Austria is therefore logical: to make handball accessible to everyone at all levels.
