Austria's largest handball tournament is expanding its digital offer and will provide spectators and participants with all matches live and on demand on its own video channel. This is made possible by a long-term cooperation with the streaming provider Solidsport.

The traditional handball tournament on the Schmelz, which has been held since 1993, will be held internationally again for the first time in two years from 26.08 - 28.08.2022. Due to the pandemic, there were only Austrian participants last time.

At the trend-setting pre-season tournament, high-performance junior teams from seven countries will compete in three age groups, both male and female, and fight for the title. The tournament will be played on seven fields in Vienna. The tournament will be officially opened with a ceremony on Friday evening at 8 pm, with the first matches starting early in the morning.

The topic of streaming has accompanied the tournament for some time. The finals will again be produced with several cameras. Thanks to the scalable and powerful solutions from Solidsport, there will also be comprehensive streaming throughout all phases of the tournament.

"We are grateful for the professional support of Solidsport, which allows us to offer great added value to our tournament and especially to the spectators, families and friends. In this day and age of digitalisation, we also have to keep up in sport and as organizers, and we have to do so in an increasingly professional manner."

- Markus Giefing, head of the Schmelzer Handball Tournament organizing committee.

The live and on-demand content will be made available to spectators, players and coaches on an individual streaming channel of the Schmelz handball tournament - powered by Solidsport. An additional service for the participating coaches: the download option of the video material directly after the final whistle. The streams are produced using standard tablets and the free Solidsport Broadcast App. With just a few clicks, broadcasts with scores, match time and highlights can be created.

Individual matches are professionally produced and all finals on Sunday are broadcast as a multi-camera production.

"Together with Markus Giefing and his team, we are looking forward to taking live streaming of the Schmelz handball tournament to the next level. Showing not only the deciding matches, but also the way there and thus broadcasting all matches not only makes sense, but is also no longer a big challenge today thanks to smart solutions. Especially at this level and so close to the start of the season, experience has shown that the interest in the livestream is great. In addition, the participating coaches in particular like to access the video material for analysis purposes."

- Henry Blunck, Country Manager Solidsport DACH.

For the Solidsport GmbH, this is already the third major event partnership in Austrian youth sports this year, after the international Easter tournament "Basketball Vienna" and the "United World Games" in Klagenfurt. Further partnerships will be communicated shortly.
